Laboratory Technician
Location: Vernon, BC

Our Vernon, BC client is looking to add a Laboratory Technician to their team. Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for execution of various microbiological analysis and reporting results. Additionally, the Lab Tech is required to support the Operational Quality team.
Responsibilities:
· Collect, analyze, and report results for environmental monitoring program
· Collect, analyze, and report results for finished product, work in process and raw materials
· Laboratory equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting
· Laboratory inventory counting, reporting, and forecasting
· Inspect and report quality of raw materials (baby lettuce, vegetables, ingredients)
· Complete shelf-life assessments and reporting results
· Special projects (e.g., Research and development, investigations, validations)
· Ensure employee compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMP) and HACCP standards
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related field; professional certificates related to laboratory work or a combination of education and experience in a related role prefeered
· Microbiology and laboratory knowledge
· Experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control
· Familiarity with the field of food, production and HACCP standards
· Competent with Microsoft Office Suite, Share point and Teams
· Available on Saturdays, and outside business hours
· Critical thinking and decision making
· Attention to detail
· Comfortable working alone in a lab environment
· Familiar with data integrity and confidential information
This position requires extensive time standing; occasional time sitting at a desk working on a computer, walking bending, reaching; working conditions include working in an office within a production facility that includes cold and damp processing and packaging environment, as well as a fresh produce farm with outdoor fields.
