Accounting Assistant (PART-TIME)

Salary Range: $28.00/hour to $32.00/hour

Our Kelowna Industrial client is looking for an Accounting Assistant to perform daily accounting tasks. This role includes assisting with AP, AR and Payroll, as well as various other duties as required.

The Accounting Assistant position is a diverse role that involves communication with many individuals across various departments to ensure that the efficiency of the company's day-to-day operations is maximized. This role involves duties including, but not limited to, customer collections, processing payment from customers, data entry of vendor invoices, processing payment to vendors, processing and payment of hourly and salary payroll and general support to the Senior Leadership Team.

Ultimately, you will help the Accounting department run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Process customer applications for credit for approval

  • Create and maintain customer records

  • Email customer statements

  • Contact customers to collect overdue amounts

  • Prepare and make deposit of customer payment

  • Apply payments from customers (cheques, credit and debit cards, EFT)

  • Resolution of any customer account discrepancies.

  • Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Process application for credit with vendor

  • Create and maintain vendor records

  • Resolve with the purchaser, any invoice to purchase order (PO) discrepancies (price, received amount, etc.)

  • Process vendor cheques/EFT for approval and signature

  • Reconcile customer statements

  • Payroll (PR)

  • Maintain employee records including pay rates, vacation, taxable benefit amounts, emergency contacts, etc.

  • Process bi-weekly hourly payroll for 50-70 employees

  • Process semi-monthly salary payroll for 10-15 employees

  • Track employee banked time and sick days

  • Prepare and pay WCB quarterly and annual payments

  • Enroll and terminate employees from the benefits plan

  • File WCB form 7

  • Issue and file ROE’s

Requirements:

  • Someone who has taken accounting/bookkeeping courses which also include payroll would be considered an asset

  • 3-5+ years Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll experience

  • Strong computer skills required

  • Strong attention to detail required
