ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SUPERVISOR

BigSteelBox, Canada’s most diversified shipping container company is looking for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join its team. Based out of our central support office in Kelowna’s Landmark 6 building, this position allows for a flexible work arrangement with a combination of work in-office and work from home unless accommodations or alternative work arrangements are in place.

This is a permanent full-time position (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm) starting as soon as possible.  The position offers a competitive base salary dependent on experience, an annual incentive scheme, a competitive benefits package and company-matching RRSP program that kicks in after 3 months.

The Accounts Payable Supervisor will report to the Finance Manager and is expected to work efficiently in a multi-faceted and dynamic work environment.

Part of these duties include organizing accounts payable methods to ensure that payments are in conformity with the company’s allocation guidelines and routine standard principles.  This position will also Supervise a team of 2-3 A/P Clerks.

Responsibilities:

·       Review expenditure expense reports for proper authorization and precision

·       Reform and execute operations and processes

·       Help with coding of expenses to correct accounts and departments

·       Review, refine and improve payable processes

·       Be available to AP team as a resource for questions, advice, direction

·       Manage payables whether it be cheque run, EFT payments, Online bill payments

·       Ensure accuracy in daily invoices and meet time limits

·       Serve as contact for resolving complicated invoicing issues

·       Build solid relationships across all departments

·       Ascertain the accuracy of accounts payable standard files and the accounts payable integrations to the general records

·       Participate in creation and interpretation of enhanced finance related methods to ensure consistency with accounts payable prerequisites

·       Organize innumerably month-end annual closings and execute special analysis tasks and other financial related obligations with the assistance of the organization’s financial network

·       Prepare and give advice on operations and staff budgets for authorization

·       Oversee expenditure for compliance with budgets and give recommendations on discrepancies as often as necessary

·       Create an efficient network for working out and distributing payments promptly

·       Ensure that company’s invoices are precisely administered

·       Organize account payments and working together with other units, taking into account all transactions within the company.

·       Interviews prospective employees and chooses the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job.

·       Trains and oversees employees involved in AP functions.

·       Directs assigned tasks and provides assistance as needed.

·       Assists with performance evaluations.

·       Other accounting related tasks that assist the Finance team in general as needed

Requirements:

·       3+ years of AP experience preferably in a supervisor/manager role.

·       Degree in Accounting or Business Administration considered an asset

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·       Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

·       Thorough understanding of accounts payable functions.

·       Excellent supervisory and analytical skills.

·       Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

·       Ability to motivate staff.
