CARPENTER
Location: Salmon Arm, BC
Position Status: CLOSED
Our established, reputable and busy Salmon Arm client is looking to add a new Carpenter to one of their crews. This role will help to facilitate the set up of homes in a timely manner & efficiently cooperate with instructions from Crew Chief. The goal is to contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.
Responsibilities:
Able to cut, fabricate and install wooden, concrete, and other structures and products to specifications.
Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards.
Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed to the right size and shape.
Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements.
Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items.
Lay out concrete, floorings, roofing’s or drywall ensuring they are levelled and compatible.
Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated.
Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance.
Build scaffolding and other construction structures.
Follow Occupational Health & Safety Rules
Use hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Requirements:
Previous experience required
First Aid Ticket, Whimis Ticket, and Class 5 Driver’s License considered an asset
Understanding & Complying with Occupation Health and Safety & Fall Safety
Manual dexterity - Experience in working with carpentry materials
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
Ability to read technical documents and drawings
Willingness to follow safety guidelines at all times
Good knowledge of English, basic mat; efficient at problem solving & time management
Have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials.
Good physical condition and endurance
NOTE: Weekend work, frequent working out town. Long Hours, 10+ hours days. Expected to share hotel rooms with other crew members.
