Controller


Location: Kelowna, BC

Position Status: OPEN

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year

Our Kelowna, BC client is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Controller to join their finance team. This critical role requires an experienced accounting professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles, has management experience and either a CPA designation or near completion of the program. The Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain robust accounting systems, and support the team with key financial insights.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.

  • Contribute to quarterly and annual financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Oversee daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger management.

  • Ensure accurate, timely financial transaction recording.

  • Collaborate across departments to improve financial processes and controls.

  • Manage Work in Progress reports and provide reliable data to the Senior management.

  • Help develop and manage annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.

  • Monitor budget performance, identify variances, and provide actionable insights.

  • Maintain and enhance internal controls to comply with regulatory requirements.

  • Assist in implementing new accounting standards and preparing for audits.

  • Mentor and manage junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for finance-related queries and resolve complex issues.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • CPA designation or near completion of the CPA program.

  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Office Suite.

  • Strong time management skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in a mid-to-large organization with complex accounting structures.

  • Familiarity with other accounting software or ERP systems is a bonus.
