PURCHASER
Location: Vernon, BC

Our Vernon, BC Custom Home Builder is looking for a Purchaser to join their team. The purchaser is a key member of the leadership team, reporting to the Controller, and will play a critical role in project planning. The site purchaser is responsible for all purchasing. The purchaser will oversee all respective job sites from a cost analysis perspective. They will help read, analyze project budgets, order materials based on the budget, track those costs and make decisions to make the projects run as efficiently as possible.
Responsibilities:
Establishing procurement protocols to ensure cost competitiveness
Build relationships with key vendors and subcontractors to ensure the best and most cost effective products and labor
General knowledge of construction sites and materials needed for those sites
Take communication from operations managers and get materials ordered from vendors
Create contracts for subcontractors and have projects go out for RFPs
Ensure materials and services purchased abide by the quality standard of customers while keeping the cost as low as possible
Monitor outstanding purchase orders keeping outstanding items to a minimum
Following up on PO and safety discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner
Calculating variances from the project budget and reporting significant issues
Coordinating the preparation of the annual operating budget
Preparing special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information from project cost reports
Tracking all project budgets and ensuring that ERP is updated to show daily costs
Getting and organizing safety documents from all job sites and coordinating with safety coordinator
Administer and monitor company safety protocols
Recommending benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
Purchase orders updated in a timely efficient manner
Use accounting software and excel to keep accounting records current
Requirements:
2 years of construction experience
1 year bookkeeping experience or equivalent such as university degree
Product knowledge for the paint and drywall industry a big asset
Must be able to read structural and architectural blueprints
General knowledge in the painting and drywall trade
Problem solving ability
Very organized and can handle paperwork
Good computer and technology skills

Good problem solving abilities
In depth knowledge of construction workflow and how to work with other trades
