TECHNICAL SALES ENGINEER REPRESENTATIVE

Our Nationwide Client is looking to add a Sales Engineer Representative to their dynamic Sales Team. Reporting to the National Sales Engineer Manager, the Sales Engineer Representative will utilize their technical knowledge and product knowledge to provide creative solutions to customers. Customers are often professional engineers from the public and private sector.

This role identifies, promotes and acts upon opportunities for the sale modular bridge products and solutions while maintaining company core values and high service standards. This position will be a strong contributor to the reputation as a Trusted Advisor in the industry, enjoying problem solving to satisfy customer needs and to improve internal processes. This remote, home based role, will be responsible for the Alberta and BC territory and will up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify sales opportunities by prospecting, acting on leads through personal initiative, existing customers and other sales staff.

  • Monitor existing client base for expansion, growth or potential moves.

  • Promote, educate and sell various solutions through the preparation and delivery of sales presentations, creation of winning proposals, meeting with clients both on and off project sites, providing support to other sales and sales support staff.

  • Participate in technical engineering association and committees within the territory to help gain industry knowledge.

  • Maintain an excellent knowledge of provincial standards and design codes applicable to the territory.

  • Utilize fundamental engineer principals to develop preliminary design and solutions for customers.

  • Identify and refer or respond to applicable requests for proposals and utilize design tools to create preliminary design required for each proposal.

  • Develop and negotiate contracts and special pricing arrangements as required.

  • Provide Site Advisor assistance to help contractors erect and launch our bridges in accordance with our plans and specifications.

  • On-going management of sales activities, including leads, opportunities, calls, customer feedback and needs, etc. using the CRM Customer Relationship Management system.

  • Work various industry related trade shows making key contacts and identify leads for follow up.

  • Develop and manage both internal and external business relationships to ensure timely and accurate delivery in keeping with customer expectations.

  • Work closely with other departments and regions to proactively address problems, improve customer satisfaction, and increase profit. Provide project management support, ensuring all non-conformances are handled professionally and with a sense of urgency.

  • Working from a home office, this position offers flexibility and requires travel throughout Western Canada.

  • Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in civil engineering, either CET, EIT, or P. Eng. designation considered an asset.

  • Professional demeanor with an appropriate sense of urgency and strong business acumen.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to develop strong business relationships.

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written) skills.

  • Able to prioritize work, be flexible, and work with minimum supervision.

  • Able to meet deadlines competently and timely, often under pressure.

  • Organized and able to multi-task and prioritize several projects at different stages concurrently.

  • Great computer skills required, including a working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Customer Relationship Management software, such as Salesforce.com.
