Accountant (REMOTE)


Location: REMOTE IN THE OKANAGAN AREA

Our Okanagan Tech client is looking to add an Accountant to their busy and productive team. The Accountant provides operational support related to finance including bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payroll.

Accountant responsibilities include categorizing transactions using Quickbooks Online and filing tax returns. To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with bookkeeping and accounting. This role will be responsible for performing daily accounting tasks that will support the company and executive team. Ultimately, you will help the finance department run smoothly, ensuring transparency and efficiency in all transactions.

**NOTE: This is a REMOTE work from home position and we are looking for someone in the Okanagan area.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial projections and analysis

  • Annual Corporate tax filing including T4s

  • Categorize transactions in Quickbooks

  • Reconcile Quickbooks and bank transactions

  • Enter financial transactions into internal databases and reconcile with bank transactions

  • Check spreadsheets for accuracy

  • Issue monthly invoices to customers

  • Send invoice reminders as needed

  • Process payroll in Quickbooks semi-monthly

  • Process Group RSP matching semi-monthly

  • Pay payroll taxes twice monthly

  • File GST quarterly and pay as needed

  • Pay vendors as needed

  • Pay credit cards as needed

  • Assist accounting firms with year end corporate income taxes for both Canadian and US company

  • Assist with SRED claims

  • Reinforce financial data confidentiality and conduct database backups when necessary

  • Comply with financial policies and regulations

Requirements:

  • Degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field

  • Work experience as an accountant or bookkeeper

  • Hands-on experience with Quickbooks Online and Google Sheets

  • Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures

  • Familiarity with finance regulations

  • Organization skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information

  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
