Assistant Controller
Location: Kelowna, BC
Position Status: CLOSED
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year
Our Kelowna, BC client, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Controller to join their dynamic team. As an Assistant Controller, you will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations and contributing to our continued success.
Responsibilities:
· Provide oversight to accounting team members to manage completion of accounting cycle checklist and deadlines;
· Work with the Controllers to manager all aspects of Yardi system (accounting, mortgage, property management, construction, system administration and consolidation module;
· Report actual and forecasted WIP for management;
· Coding expenditures for property and balancing WIP for construction projects;
· Contribute to the training and mentoring of other Accountants and Accounts Payable team members;
· Provide vacation coverage for other Accountants or Controllers;
· Review and approve A/P batches as they relate to materiality;
· Prepare, review, and approve GST returns;
· Review and approve online bill payments;
· Review and approve journal entries and other accounting system entries;
· Responsible for an entity level “property” list of corporate properties (8000-level);
· Contribute to the consolidated monthly/quarterly/annual executive level portfolio summary;
· Contribute to process improvements and implementation projects as required;
· Assist with various ad hoc accounting tasks as requested by senior management;
· Foster a strong working relationship with all team members, to ensure the operational and corporate goals of the organization are being met to the best of the abilities of the accounting group as a whole;
· Planning, organizing, and coordinating the month-end and year-end close processes with the Controller, Financial Services;
· Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
· Proactive completion of external reports to stakeholders;
· Assessing current accounting operations, improvement and implementing new processes;
· Developing and monitoring business performance metrics;
· Assist with the completion of all fiscal year end working papers including appropriate tax planning and internally prepared financial statements for CAD and US corporations;
· Review, setup and manage the accounting entries for all Argus Group mortgages;
· Post monthly mortgage entries;
· Various other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Degree in accounting, business, or related discipline;
· CPA designation as asset;
· Previous experience in corporate accounting or private practice;
· Experience with Yardi Voyageur considered an asset;
· Strong work ethic; able to work productively, with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
