HR Generalist/Advisor
Location: Edmonton, Surrey, Vancouver or Kelowna.
Position Status: CLOSED
Our client with office located in Edmonton, AB, Kelowna, BC and Surrey, BC is looking to add a new Human Resources Generalist/Advisor. In this role you are responsible for full cycle recruitment, onboarding, and employee, labour/employee relations, and special projects.
Responsibilities:
· Maintain awareness of the culture, plans, financial position, and competition of the business units (sites/communities) within the company
· Conduct weekly meetings to check in with each business unit with active job postings; and bi-weekly for all other business units
· Assess and anticipate human resources-related needs
· Write employment agreements for new hires and contracts for promotions and transfers in collaboration with department management
· Develop and nurture partnerships through human resources to bridge management and employees
· Collaborate with business units to develop solutions and recommend policy framework to address issues of a systemic nature
· Mediate and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective workplace investigations, when necessary, under guidance of the Sr. Human Resources Manager
· Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees, referring complex issues to the Sr. Human Resources Manager immediately
· Interpret human resources policy and processes
· Ensure working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements in force within the company
· Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements
Requirements:
· Minimum of five (5) years' experience in Human Resources is required
· Experience in a unionized environment is preferred
· Completion of post-secondary program in Human Resources is an asset
· Certified CPHR or working towards certification is an asset
· Experience in a healthcare setting with multiple locations is an asset
· Demonstrated excellent client service skills and superior interpersonal skills
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, demonstrating strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Demonstrated knowledge of provincial labour laws, workers’ compensation, and union relations
· Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive information with tact and discretion
· Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities
· Strong problem solving and analytical skills
· Strong computer literacy including effective working skills with Microsoft Suite, specifically advanced Teams, Excel and Outlook
· Ability to work independently and in a team setting
· Experience working in a fast-paced environment with ever changing priorities
